Jubilee Church Bromley - Youth

There has been a long history of youth work on the site of the Jubilee Centre, stretching back to the 1920s!

Today there are a number of different activities and events that are available for young people. Recess is our Friday night youth club for any young people in the community. 4:12 is for young people that want to be part of Jubilee church, and meets during Sunday morning meetings. We also join with other churches in the area for joint services, worship events and going to festivals like Soul Survivor.

We really value young people and want Jubilee Church to be a place where they are safe, encouraged and can thrive. We are committed to safeguarding practices and all our youthwork volunteers and staff have been appointed through safer recruitment. Find out more about our safeguarding.

Recess is for 11-18 year olds in secondary education and takes place on Friday evenings 8-10pm during term time. Want to know more? Keep reading…

What happens at Recess?

Films, table tennis, pool, football, music, computer games, occasional outings to bowling, or going over to Whitehall Recreation park. Part of the evening usually includes a time of activities, competitions, or discussions based on social or moral issues and given from a Christian perspective. Occasionally we hold a lock-in where we sleep overnight at the centre and watch films, play games and chat – all ending in the morning with a cooked breakfast. You can see our latest programme of activities at on our facebook page.

Who is in charge?

A small team of volunteers help to run Recess and the club is led by our youth worker, all of whom are accountable to the leadership of Jubilee church.

How much does it cost and how do I join?

It’s just £1.50 per week. We have a few spaces for new Recess members this term so if you are interested in joining us or for more information, email recess@jubileechurch.co.uk.

Do I have to be a Christian or join the church?

No, while we retain the right to talk about our faith and share about God's love, we do not expect anyone who joins the club to believe in God or attend church.

Is there a limit on numbers?

Yes, we operate on a first come, first served basis for becoming members and allow up to 35 young people, between the ages of 11-18, to be there on any one night.

When you do get to join us, we’ll give you a warm welcome and you’ll find a fun and friendly atmosphere.

4:12 Group - Sunday Mornings

A couple of times a month, usually the middle two/three Sundays, we have separate activities for young people during part of the Sunday morning service, with the opportunity to explore Christianity in the context of the issues they face as young adults today.

4:12 is for young people aged 11+ and the group’s name refers to a verse in the Bible which says:

"Let no one despise your youth; instead, you should be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."
1 Timothy 4v12

The group has great discussions on interesting and challenging topics ... and lots of fun.

Other Events

We join with other churches in the Bromley area and across London to worship God and learn about what it means to follow Jesus and be part of the wider church.

We regular hold joint gatherings with other local churches and have been going to Soul Survivor since 2013. If you are interested in attending any of our events or groups, you can check upcoming dates by emailing youthwork@jubileechurch.co.uk.
