Jubilee Church Bromley - Serving Our Community

Serving Our Community

Jubilee Church is part of the community and we want to show support for people in and around our local area.

We have teams who support older people and college students, and we help run the local Safer Neighbourhoods team. For those in financial hardship, we have a fund which can help to meet their needs.

We run courses which give people a chance to explore the meaning of life. Once a year, we put on a family event open to all of the community, with live music, games, face painting, bouncy castles, a BBQ and plenty of refreshments.

Alpha Course

You may have heard about Alpha in the media, or seen it advertised on posters at bus stops, stations or churches. Alpha is a course designed primarily for people who aren’t ‘church goers’, and offers the opportunity for people to explore Christianity.

Typically these sessions involve sharing a meal together and hearing a short talk about an aspect of Christian faith, followed by a discussion where everyone is invited to share their thoughts and ask questions. There is no pressure, follow up or charge for the course.

Jubilee Church run Alpha courses regularly, so if you are interested in joining us to find out more about God, without any obligation, please contact us. You can also found out more about the Alpha course at www.alpha.org.

College Pastors

A number of members of Jubilee Church volunteer as College Pastors, at Bromley College of Higher Education. The team underwent training at the end of 2012 and since then have been providing support on weekly basis. The help patrol the college and local bus stops when the students leave to go home, as well as hosting a ‘faith and friendship’ group where students can come to discuss various topics and talk about any issues they have.

Food Bank

There’s been a sharp increase in the number of people across the UK who cannot afford even the most basic amount of food. Food Banks everywhere are doing what they can to respond to this need. Our local Food Bank provides one week’s worth of emergency non-perishable food and other supplies to individuals and families facing crisis in the Bromley and Orpington area.

Here at Jubilee Church, we are giving our support by encouraging people to buy an extra item of food each week and bring it to the centre. All food and supply donations are then delivered to the Food Bank on a monthly basis to help those who need it in our local community. For more information, you can contact us directly, or you can find out more about the Food Bank website.

Healing on the Streets

Healing on the Streets Bromley is a group of ordinary people, from a number of churches and denominations in the Bromley area, who follow Jesus. We believe God loves everyone and that one of the ways in which He can demonstrate that love is through His power to heal. Our aim is to be available, on a regular basis in Bromley High Street, to pray for anyone who asks.

So, if you're around Bromley High Street every other Saturday from 10.00-11.00am you will find a team who will be delighted to pray with you. It won’t cost you anything, except a moment of your time.

Safer Neighbourhood Panel

Jubilee Church are committed to working with and making a difference in the local community and, as we are located in the Bromley Common & Keston ward, we are represented on the local safer neighbourhood panel for the area.

Support for older people

A small team of volunteers from Jubilee Church provide support in helping to meet the social and spiritual needs of older people in our community. We do this through a regular programme of informal visits to local residential care homes.

Our volunteers offer friendship and support to residents through activities such as music or reading, or just a good old chat! We also work with other local churches to arrange regular Sunday services at the care homes.
