My life to date

I’m 37 and have lived in Bromley all my life. I’m delighted to have been married to Jackie for over 15 years and looking forward to many, many more. My Mum and Dad (Roland & Brenda) are part of Jubilee and I’ve grown up in the church. I have a brother (Tim), and he and his wife (Debbie) and daughter (Daisy) also live in the Bromley area. I work in London for an organisation called Railpen. We look after the investments that provide the pensions for all the people who work in the UK railway industry. I have an eclectic range of interests that include skiing, music, wine, hanging-out, films, eating out, travel, reading, and the world-wide-web!

How long in Jubilee Church? Just over 30 years I think, but the early ones are a bit hazy.

How long in leadership? About 4 years on the Core Team.

One good thing about being a leader? It’s a real privilege to serve such a wonderful group of people.

One problem with being a leader? Realising that sometimes things can’t be mended or fixed.

What 4 words would Jackie suggest best describe you? I asked and got quite a few. The ‘C’s include: Caring, Contrary, Considerate and Creative.

Favourite Bible passage/book? Luke chapter 15.

Favourite Film? I’m really not good at favourites! Local Hero, The Godfather and Sense & Sensibility would make the Top 10.

Favourite book(s)? Again, I’m not sure where to begin, but they would include: The Secret History, Life After God, and The Return of the Prodigal Son.

Favourite music/artist/band? I would be useless on Desert Island Disks! U2, Delirious, Coldplay and Bob Dylan would all be up there.

Favourite food? Jackie’s lasagne.

Favourite way of relaxing? Skiing or reading.

Famous person (alive or dead) you’d most like to meet, the question you’d most like to ask them? Abraham, because I would love for God to have that much in store for me when I’m 75! But I’d have way too many questions (How did it feel to be called ‘a friend of God’? Or when the Lord took you out and showed you the stars? Or when God said to sacrifice Isaac? ….)

The most significant influences that have affected Jubilee over your time here? When I look back I see God has used lots of people and events to influence us. I think one of the foundational teachings in Jubilee was the importance of ‘body ministry’, and that has stood us in good stead for the many opportunities God has given us since we moved into the new Jubilee Centre.

How would you most like to be remembered over your time in Leadership? As someone who helped to draw people closer to Jesus.
