My life to date

Born in 1966 in Oswestry, Shropshire, which is close to Wales (always felt I had Celtic roots!)  While still a baby we moved to Bridgnorth - a gorgeous place Jon and I love escaping to, to visit my parents and enjoy the peace. I became a Christian at 17 whilst at school, and had a fantastic grounding in my faith through attending the local Baptist Church. Moving to Bromley after school, I did a bilingual secretarial course at the Technical College and having received my certificate, I left to start work, though sadly not using my languages. I distinctly remember my first experience of Jubilee. I was on time, however the only folk there were Ray and the musicians – nothing changes eh! I immediately felt at home, with the young people befriending me.

Jon and I also became friends over time and eventually realised we felt more than friendship (all together now ….. ahhhh!). We got married in 1992 - wow how time flies, but it’s been a real adventure hopefully with lots more to come!

How long in leadership? I think it's at least 5 years.

One good thing about being a leader? To have the privilege of serving God in a practical way and serving a great bunch of people.

One problem with being a leader? The long meetings and worrying about people.

What 4 words would Jon suggest best describe you? Fun, hardworking, caring, a worrier!

Favourite Bible passage/book? Psalms - there's such emotion and honesty in them and I can always find something that will encourage me.

Favourite music? U2 - the greatest band that ever existed and if anyone disagrees with me I'll be very upset!!!

Favourite food? Hmm tricky as I like so many things but I guess any kind of pudding if I'm honest!

Favourite way of relaxing? Hanging out with friends, or walking somewhere surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Somewhere you'd like to visit? New Zealand - though I'm not sure I could stomach the long flight...

Famous person you'd most like to meet? That would have to be Bono - I would love to ask him how he maintains such passion for the things he believes in and dedicates himself to.

The most significant influence that's affected Jubilee over your time here? Probably the move to Belmont and the gift of the new building - God is amazing and I think we are in a very exciting time right now.

How, or for what, would you most like to be remembered over your time in Leadership? Now that's a tricky one! Probably someone who never gave up, even in difficult circumstances, and followed Jesus the best I could.
